A new era for the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has officially begun in the South-West. Renowned actress and filmmaker Dayo Amusa has been sworn in as the National Vice President (South-West) of the guild, following her victory in the national elections held in December 2025.
The inauguration ceremony, which took place at the AGN National Secretariat in Abuja, saw the swearing-in of the new National Executive Council (NEC) led by the new National President, Abubakar Yakubu. Amusa, whose tenure will run for three years until January 2029, expressed profound gratitude to her colleagues and elders in the industry for the trust reposed in her. In a heartfelt statement released on February 8, 2026, she described her emergence as a “call to service” and emphasized her commitment to transparency, innovation, and administrative excellence to elevate the guild’s standards.
As she assumes her role, Amusa—celebrated for her impact in movies like Dewunmi Iberu—aims to foster unity and creativity across the South-West chapters. Her appointment is seen as a strategic win for the guild, as her longstanding experience in Nollywood is expected to bring fresh perspectives to the leadership team as they navigate the evolving landscape of the Nigerian film industry.
