Chidinma Reveals the Surprising Story Behind Her Move to Gospel Music

Nigerian gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has opened up about a chapter of her life many fans may not have known about, revealing that she once travelled abroad with plans to settle permanently outside Nigeria.

Speaking at an event organised by Eezee Conceptz, the singer explained that she had begun processing documents that would allow her to remain abroad because she did not intend to return home. However, her plans did not work out as expected, and she eventually came back to Nigeria.

Chidinma said the head of Eezee Conceptz was the one person from Nigeria who continued reaching out to her while she was away. His calls and encouragement, she explained, helped strengthen her resolve to return.

What happened next marked a major turning point in her career. After coming home, she approached the music executive for a gospel music contract because she wanted to devote more time to her relationship with God.

The singer also explained that her transition was not originally driven by a simple ambition to become a gospel artiste. Rather, it grew out of a personal desire to deepen her faith, which eventually reshaped her musical direction.

Chidinma first rose to national fame through mainstream music before embracing gospel, making her transformation a subject of interest among fans who followed her earlier career.

Her latest revelation offers a more personal look at the decisions behind that change. It also highlights how unexpected setbacks and support from others can influence the direction of a person’s life.
