#Chivido2024 has remained the no.1 trending hashtag on all platforms today as a result of the much-talked-about wedding ceremony of Afrobeat sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, in Lagos.
The lavish wedding ceremony is set to be one of the most talked about events of the year as it has attracted a mix of celebrities, dignitaries, and political figures, including former President Olusegun Obasanjo; Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke; Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, and the immediate-past governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Emmanuel, and celebrities from across Nigeria. They included businessman and celebrity bartender, Pascal Okechukwu, a.k.a Cubana Chief Priest, and Pretty Mike, among others.
The wedding has been the talk of the town for days now and trending on social media with the hashtag #Chivido2024 – an acronym coined from the names of the couple – Chioma and Davido – and the year of the wedding.
Davido on his part has continued to turn heads by changing into different attires for his wedding. He has now thrown netizens further into a frenzy as he steps out wearing an Igbo attire.
During the traditional wedding rites, Davido told Chioma’s parents that their daughter would be protected, respected and connected.
An Instagram video captured the heartwarming moment in which Davido prostrated in front of his bride’s parents during his ongoing traditional wedding. The event compere then asked him to beg for their daughter’s hand in marriage, as is tradition demands.
She said, “Tell us how you are going to take care of her for record purposes, you know you have sung about it and talked about it.”
As the singer lay on the ground, he highlighted his intentions for Chioma as directed, saying, “I have only two words, lifetime assurance.”
His statement caused the crowd to erupt into loud cheers, and then he added, “I promise you that your daughter will be protected, respected and connected. Mummy, Daddy I love you. Everybody knows that I’m happy for this day and this is the happiest day of my life.”
The wedding ceremony is marked by luxury and opulence. In a video circulating on social media, Davido showcased an $800,000 wristwatch (approximately N1.2 billion) that he wore with his first outfit. “Ain’t no fake watch, mehn. $800,000, man,” Davido said, proudly displaying the timepiece.
