The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has raised a strong voice of concern over the worsening economic hardship and security challenges facing the country, calling on the Federal Government to take decisive action to rescue 78 schoolchildren recently abducted in Borno State.
In a comprehensive statement issued by its leadership, the apex Christian body lamented the crippling cost of living, rising food prices, and persistent inflation that continue to push millions of Nigerian households into severe financial distress. CAN emphasized that economic stability cannot be achieved without guaranteeing total security for lives, property, and agricultural investments across rural communities.
Focusing on the plight of the missing 78 Borno students, the association described the kidnapping as a heartbreaking tragedy that strikes at the core of national peace and human dignity. CAN urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and security chiefs to deploy all necessary intelligence, military capabilities, and tactical resources to secure the safe, unhurt release of the young students and reunite them with their distressed families. The body also called on government at all levels to implement targeted relief measures to cushion current economic pressures, stressing that leadership must prioritize the safety, welfare, and hope of ordinary citizens.
As public outcry over security concerns grows across the country, CAN called on Nigerians of all faiths to remain united, law-abiding, and persistent in prayer for total peace and restoration.
