The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, is set to swear in 14 newly appointed judges of the Federal High Court tomorrow, Wednesday, February 18, 2026. This formal inauguration follows the National Judicial Council’s (NJC) recommendation made during its 110th meeting in January and subsequent approval by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. According to a statement from the Supreme Court’s Director of Information and Public Relations, Dr. Festus Akande, the ceremony will take place at 10:00 a.m. in Courtroom Two of the Supreme Court in Abuja.
The 14 judges joining the Federal High Court bench include Amida Hassan Suleiman, who previously served as the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, along with Barau Saidu Muhammad, Chinelo Conchita Igboko, Chioma Angela Onuegbu, and Edingah Galumje. Other appointees are Vera Eneabo Ibrahim, Musa Usman Abubakar, Aisha Yunusa Salihu, Joy Bassey Ikpeme, Umaru Adamu Shehu, Ibrahim Buba Mohammed, Nendelmum Judith Eigege-Binjin, Kuyik Uduak Usoro, and Osinachi Donatus Nwoye.
The Supreme Court has extended an invitation to members of the Bench, the Bar, and the media to witness the event, emphasizing that attendees must strictly adhere to the official dress code and security protocols. This significant expansion of the Federal High Court is viewed as a vital step in strengthening the Nigerian judiciary and improving the efficiency of justice administration across the country.
