A prominent governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Raymond Edoh, has formally rejected the rumored zoning arrangement for the Benue State governorship seat ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to a report by Leadership, Edoh characterized the alleged zoning and endorsement of a specific candidate as a threat to the party’s internal democracy and its chances at the polls.
Speaking through his media director on Saturday, May 10, 2026, Edoh argued that Benue State is currently at a critical crossroads and requires a leader chosen based on competence, track record, and a clear vision rather than ethnic or regional considerations. He called on the national and state leadership of the ADC to maintain a level playing field by ensuring transparent and fair primaries. Edoh emphasized that the “zoning” narrative is a tactic being used by a few individuals to bypass popular will, warning that such a move could alienate loyal party members and supporters across the state’s three senatorial districts.
