In a decisive judicial outcome ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has affirmed Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim as the validly nominated presidential candidate of the Accord Party.
Delivering the judgment in suit FHC/ABJ/CS/1268/2026, presiding judge Justice Mohammed Umar ruled that evidence conclusively established Olawepo-Hashim as the sole winner of the Accord Party’s presidential primary election conducted on May 30. The court held that after accepting N50 million from the plaintiff for expression of interest and nomination forms, the party acted wrongfully by withholding his nomination.
Consequently, Justice Umar ordered the Accord Party leadership to immediately recognize Olawepo-Hashim as its sole flagbearer and forward his details to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for onward portal upload.
Reacting to the favorable verdict, Olawepo-Hashim dedicated the victory to party members, his legal team, and the judiciary for upholding justice. He extended an olive branch to all aggrieved internal stakeholders, calling for party cohesion and unity ahead of the upcoming presidential contest scheduled for January 16, 2027.
“I give God the glory for this victory. We won’t leave anybody behind. We should all come together and work for the party’s victory. The march to a New Nigeria has started,” Hashim stated.
The court order effectively clears legal hurdles for Olawepo-Hashim as the Accord Party officially solidifies its presidential campaign architecture.
