The dance continues in Osun State! The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, as the winner of the fiercely contested 2026 Osun State governorship election.
Running under the platform of the Accord Party, Adeleke swept to victory after pulling a massive 511,067 votes, proving that his political grip on the state remains remarkably strong.
According to official figures released by INEC, the election recorded a total of 1,005,800 votes cast across the state’s 3,763 polling units. When the dust finally settled, Governor Adeleke clinched 50.8 percent of the total valid votes. His closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), trailed behind, securing 444,815 votes (44.2 percent), while other candidates shared the remaining margins.
This victory marks a historic moment, as Adeleke successfully defends his mandate for a second term, navigating a tense political landscape that had citizens hooked to their screens and edge-of-their-seats all weekend. Despite early concerns over voter turnout and minor technical glitches, the people of Osun have spoken loudly through the ballot box.
