Defections to APC are Forceful Ologbondiyan Claims

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), of forcefully making PDP governors to join the ruling party

He stated this while speaking on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday. His comment follows the political crisis that has been ongoing in Rivers State and the recent meeting between President Bola Tinubu, the suspended governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike.

The PDP chieftain noted that the resolution of the conflict between Wike and Fubara by President Tinubu is a loss to the PDP.

Fubara and his predecessor Wike has been on loggerheads even after his suspension. The political father and son had reunited after the President united them and they both attended a funeral at the weekend. The governor was also seen in company of the house members during their meeting with the president.

Earlier, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State and Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, have joined the the APC, haven defected from the PDP.

Ologbondiyan noted that governors did not defection following the reason they gave regarding the internal crisis but because they are under pressure to join the APC ahead of the 2027 general election.

“Talking about the river situation, I will be honest and I think that the PDP did all it could, some on a negative side, others on a positive side. I think the takeaway for the Peoples Democratic Party in this matter is that its governors are being harassed.
