Diddy Begins Prison Sentence at FCI Fort Dix

Sean “Diddy” Combs has officially checked in at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal correctional institution in New Jersey, to begin serving his prison sentence.

According to law enforcement sources, the music mogul was transferred early Thursday morning from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, where he had been held since September 2024 after his arrest and denial of bail. The transfer marks the start of his 50-month sentence handed down by Judge Arun Subramanian.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons approved Diddy’s request to serve his time at Fort Dix, a facility known for offering rehabilitation and substance abuse programs. His legal team said the decision was made to allow him better access to family visits and a focus on personal reform during incarceration.

While Fort Dix offers a less severe environment compared to MDC—which is notorious for overcrowding and violence—Diddy’s attorney, Mark Geragos, has voiced ongoing safety concerns. Speaking on the “2 Angry Men” podcast, Geragos warned that his client could still be a target for assaults or intimidation behind bars.

These fears stem from previous incidents during Diddy’s detention, including a chilling moment when another inmate allegedly pressed a knife to his neck.

Now adjusting to his new environment, Diddy’s projected release date is May 8, 2028, though that could change depending on his conduct, participation in rehabilitation programs, and other prison factors.
