But, The Blues failed to hold on to the lead as Romeo Lavia struck a belter to grab a leveller.
And just before the break, Adam Armstrong put The Saints in front.
With Chelsea failing to level things or pull a come back, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men bagged a second win of the season, while Chelsea fell to a second defeat.
