The City had lots of chances to increase the scoreline. Still, between City’s seemingly lack of clinical prowess and Brighton’s goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez’s efforts, the hard-earned lone goal victory and their fourth straight win in the league moved Pep’s side to fourth on the log.
Meanwhile, Brighton has now lost in nine league matches and are just two points ahead of 18th-placed Fulham, who have two games in hand.
Tottenham 1 – 1 Fulham
In the other game of the night, Jose Mourinho’s men had to settle for a draw against Fulham thanks to Ivan Cavaleiro’s 74-minute header in their abruptly rescheduled London derby.
The equalizer, which came just seconds after Heung-min Son missed the chance to make it two for Spurs, canceled out Harry Kane’s first-half opener.
Though Tottenham could have pocketed all three points for a disallowed stoppage-time goal from Sergio Regulation, it was a well-earned point for Fulham, who had asked for this game initially slated for last month to be rescheduled due to the COVID-19 outbreak in their camp.
