Manchester City extended their winning run to 18 games with a 1-0 victory over Arsenal.
Pep Guardiola’s side has not dropped a point since 15 December and is already looking like a favourite for the Premier League title as they are now sitting 10 points clear at the top of the table with 13 games left to play.
City took the lead just two minutes into the game, thanks to Raheem Sterling’s well-placed header.
The visitors could have increased the deficit, and though Arteta’s men showed glimpses of maybe pulling one back to get into the game, they are content with the fact that one goal was all the dangerous looking City side ended up with.
The defeat leaves Arsenal at 10th, six points off the top six.
Manchester City will turn their attention to the Champions League as they face Borussia Monchengladbach in Budapest in the last 16 on Wednesday, 24 February, while Arsenal plays Benfica in Athens in the second leg of their Europa League last-32 tie.
Manchester United 3 – 1 Newcastle
Ole Gunnar’s men also picked up three points with a comfortable win over struggling Newcastle thanks to Rashford, Dan James and a Bruno Fernandez penalty.
While the victory took them to second, the Red Devils remain 10 points behind their seemingly unstoppable neighbours, Manchester City. Their hopes of winning the title keep diminishing with each passing game.
Manchester United are up next against Real Sociedad in the second leg of their last 32 Europa League last-32 tie on Thursday. They’ll travel to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
