Flamingos Make History! Nigeria Beat Brazil 3-1 to Reach First U-17 World Cup Final

Nigeria’s Flamingos have delivered a performance that will be remembered for years after defeating Brazil 3-1 to book their place in the final of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Nigerian girls produced a stunning second-half display in Morocco, scoring three goals to overcome their South American opponents and reach the final for the first time in the country’s history.

Queen Joseph opened the scoring in the 56th minute, giving Nigeria the breakthrough after a goalless first half. Awawu Bashiru then took centre stage, scoring in the 71st minute before completing her brace in the 80th minute.

Brazil managed a late consolation through Greise Kelly, but it was not enough to stop the Flamingos from celebrating a famous 3-1 victory.

The achievement takes Nigeria beyond its previous best performance of third place at the 2022 edition, when the team won bronze in India.

Now, Japan stand between the Flamingos and a historic world title. Japan booked their place in the final after eliminating defending champions North Korea.

The final is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, and Nigerian football fans will be hoping the young stars can finish their remarkable campaign with the trophy.
