Fresh Twist in Mohbad’s Paternity Case as Family Requests DNA Test Postponement

The controversy surrounding late Nigerian singer Mohbad has taken another turn after his family demanded the identity of the United States laboratory expected to conduct the DNA test involving his son, Liam.

In a fresh statement, the family said it was concerned about the arrangements for the examination, particularly reports that biological samples would be collected in Lagos and transported to an overseas laboratory for analysis.

The family, led by Samuel Aloba, is asking for the laboratory’s full name, address, accreditation details and information about the procedures that will be used to handle the samples. It also wants a clear explanation of how the samples will be labelled, transported and protected against interference.

The relatives have requested that the DNA exercise scheduled for Saturday, October 31, be postponed until their concerns are addressed and the court’s directions are properly clarified.

However, the family has stressed that it is not opposing a credible DNA test. Its position, according to the statement, is that the process must be transparent enough for everyone involved to trust the final result.

Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. Since his death, the circumstances surrounding his passing and the paternity of Liam have remained subjects of intense public discussion.

The latest development has once again brought the singer’s family dispute into the spotlight. Many Nigerians are hoping that the legal process will finally provide clear answers and bring an end to the prolonged controversy.
