Nigerian street-pop star Bella Shmurda has shared a startling and raw confession about the extreme lengths he went to during the early days of his music career, admitting that he once stole a neighbor’s bicycle to fund a studio session.
Speaking candidly during an appearance on Echo Room TV, the “Vision 2020” hitmaker reflected on the grinding struggles of chasing a music dream while living in the Okoko area of Lagos. According to the singer, financial desperation pushed him to sneakily take a young neighbor’s bicycle under the cover of night, hide it, and later sell it at the famous Alaba Market for a meager ₦7,000.
“If my mom hears this, she’ll be angry. When we lived in Okoko, I once stole my neighbor’s son’s bicycle and hid it at night. I sold it in Alaba for ₦7,000 to pay for studio sessions,” he revealed.
While acknowledging that the memory remains a painful stain on his past, Bella Shmurda shared that he has since tracked down the owner and made full amends by purchasing a brand-new bicycle for him.
The shocking revelation has since gone viral, offering fans a stark glimpse into the unglamorous, gritty hustle behind his eventual breakthrough into the Nigerian music mainstream.
