The Kano State Police Command has arrested and detained popular TikTok personality Fati Cele following the mysterious death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, at her residence.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the development, stating that the influencer is currently in custody. However, law enforcement officials have declined to provide further details at this stage, noting that intensive investigations are actively ongoing to unravel the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Incident in Danbare
Fati Cele, a native of Borno State who commands a following of over 32,000 on TikTok, resides in a rented apartment in the Danbare area of Kano.
According to sources close to the deceased, the incident unfolded when the TikTok personality suddenly raised a frantic alarm from her apartment, claiming that a fire had broken out. Makaye, a cosmetics trader who lived in the Hotoro Tishama area of Kano, was subsequently rushed to Nassarawa Hospital for emergency treatment but unfortunately passed away.

Following the merchant’s death, officers attached to the Dorayi Babba Police Division stepped in and took Cele into custody. Meanwhile, Makaye’s remains have been released to his family and buried at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki in accordance with Islamic rites.
