Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Call It Quits After 9 Years Together

Pop superstar Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have officially ended their relationship after nine years together and a long engagement.

According to sources close to the couple, the split was amicable but not without emotional weight.

“Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce,” the insider told Us Weekly, referencing her past marriage to comedian Russell Brand.

The insider explained that things “have been tense for months” between Perry and Bloom, and their split has been “a long time coming.” Perry is reportedly staying “distracted” by “keeping busy” with her ongoing tour.

The couple, who got engaged in 2019 and share a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, had reportedly been living apart due to Katy’s ongoing tour and conflicting schedules.

Although Orlando recently surprised Katy at her concert in Australia alongside their daughter, sources said it was one of their “make-or-break” moments. Sadly, it seems they’ve now chosen to go their separate ways.

The couple first met at a Golden Globes after-party in 2016, briefly split in 2017, and later reunited before getting engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019.

Insiders claim the breakup didn’t happen overnight. Tensions had reportedly been building for months, especially due to Katy’s stress over the lukewarm reception of her recent album 143 and her controversial Blue Origin space trip.

Despite the split, both stars have remained tight-lipped publicly, possibly hoping to work things out privately for the sake of their daughter.

A source close to the couple told The Sun: ‘Katy confided in friends at the start of the year that their relationship was as good as done.

‘They decided to hold off on announcing anything in case things improved between them, because they are desperate to stay together for the sake of their daughter.’

Yet the insider claimed that their busy work schedules have made it impossible to work things out and that Katy wanted to send a ‘clear message’ by removing her engagement ring.

The source concluded: ‘It’s been a hard year so far. They wanted to wait until the tour is over before they made their split official, although Katy has grown tired of the situation.’
