Nigeria’s athletics community is preparing for a major gathering as more than 850 athletes are expected to compete at the 10th anniversary edition of the Athletic Heat meet in Lagos.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Sports Complex of Yaba College of Technology.
Several Nigerian international athletes are expected to headline the competition, including Miracle Ezechukwu, Samson Nathaniel and Adams Samuel Kure.
The anniversary event is expected to bring together athletes from different levels of competition, creating an opportunity for emerging talents to test themselves alongside more experienced competitors.
Athletics remains one of Nigeria’s most promising sporting areas, with the country continuing to produce talented sprinters and field-event athletes.
Events such as Athletic Heat are important because they provide opportunities for competition, talent identification and greater visibility for athletes who may otherwise struggle to attract attention.
With more than 850 competitors expected, the 10th anniversary meet promises to be an exciting occasion for Nigerian athletics.
