Late penalty spells defeat for Man Utd against West Ham

A late, controversial penalty condemned Manchester United to a disappointing 2-1 defeat away at West Ham.

Having failed to convert numerous chances and playing out a goalless first half, Erik Ten Hag’s side were paid to pay when Crysencio Summerville broke the deadlock in the 74th minute.

Seven minutes later, Casemiro, leveled things for the rather struggling Red Devils.

Look set to settle for a draw, the Hammers were awarded a penalty after a VAR review in injury time, much to United’s dismay and Jarrod Bowen made no mistakes from the spot to secure three points.

The result leaves the underwhelming Man Utd at 14th on the EPL log, with just three wins in their opening nine matches.
