With Ole Gunnar’s men at the summit of the EPL and Klopp’s dealing with a bit of dip in performance amidst their injury worries, the highly anticipated cracker between Manchester all but ended in a goalless stalemate and wasn’t quite as eventful as hoped for.
Although Liverpool dominated most of the first half but missed chances, precise cut saves and well-timed defensive work from Manchester United kept the host at Bay with Alisson putting in the position to stop a Bruno Fernandez 20-yards free-kick from keeping things all squared at the break.
After the break, the visitors came in charged and had lots of chances, but brilliant saves by Alisson, including back to back near stoppage clearances of Bruno and Pogba’s efforts, ensured both parties left sealed things off with a point each.
The draw means Manchester United, who are unbeaten in their last 16 away games, remain at the top, two points ahead of City rivals, Manchester City, who thumped 4-0 to move to second. At the same time, Liverpool dropped to fourth, a point behind second-placed Leicester City.
Having missed the opportunity to go six points clear on Sunday, United will be looking to take all their chances when they play Fulham on Wednesday. At the same time, Liverpool will host Burnley on Thursday with the view of reclaiming a stronghold in the title race.
