Former APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman, has cautioned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi that pursuing separate presidential ambitions ahead of the 2027 general elections could inadvertently strengthen President Bola Tinubu’s chances of securing another electoral victory. Lukman argued that opposition political parties and leaders should place greater emphasis on collaboration, consensus building, and a shared political strategy if they hope to present a competitive alternative in the next presidential election. According to him, divisions within the opposition could weaken their electoral prospects and make it easier for the ruling party to consolidate support across key voting blocs. His comments have generated widespread debate among political observers, party members, and the public regarding coalition politics, party unity, and the strategic choices facing opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 polls. Analysts noted that electoral success in a multiparty democracy often depends on organizational strength, grassroots mobilization, policy proposals, and the ability to build broad political alliances.
