Maiduguri Walkathon: Police and Citizens March Together for Peace

The Borno State Police Command has organized a walkathon involving officers and local residents as part of a strategic initiative to strengthen community relations and restore public confidence.

According to a report by Radio Nigeria, the event saw high-ranking police officials and diverse groups of citizens trekking through the streets of Maiduguri. The exercise was designed to break down barriers between law enforcement and the public, fostering an environment of mutual respect and cooperation.

The Commissioner of Police for Borno State emphasized that security is a collective responsibility. He noted that such engagements are vital for intelligence gathering and creating a “people-friendly” police force. By walking alongside the residents, the command aims to demonstrate that officers are partners in progress and safety, rather than just figures of authority.

Participants, including youth groups and community leaders, praised the initiative, describing it as a necessary step toward humanizing the police force and ensuring a more peaceful and secure Borno State.
