
The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has released a comprehensive traffic advisory for tomorrow, Monday, April 6, 2026, to facilitate the Lagos Fanti Carnival at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).

To ensure a seamless celebration of this Afro-Brazilian heritage event, several major roads on Lagos Island will be closed or restricted starting from 7:00 AM.
Major Road Closures (Inbound to TBS)
- King George V Road (at the junction by Mobil Filling Station).
- Onikan Roundabout (inbound to TBS).
- Flagstaff House (inbound to TBS).
- Outer Marina (by State House, inbound to TBS).
- Force Road (inbound to TBS).
- WaterBoy Roundabout (by Old Defence House).
Restricted Access & Link Roads
All roads connecting to Moloney Road will be closed, including:
- Military Road (by Old Defence Building).
- Ajasa Street, Boyle Street, and Hawley Street.
- Campbell Street (by the Old Defence Building).
- Catholic Mission Street (by St. Nicholas Hospital).
LASTMA Diversion Plan & Alternative Routes
Motorists are advised to use the following routes to bypass the carnival zone:
- From Obalende: Vehicles descending toward Onikan Roundabout will be diverted toward Zone 2.
- From Bonny Camp: Motorists heading toward McEwen Bridge or descending from Flagstaff House will be redirected toward Obalende Bridge.
- From Outer Marina: All traffic heading toward TBS will be channeled through Obalende Bridge.
Designated Event Parking
For those attending the festivities, the government has arranged the following car parks:
- Yoruba Lawn Tennis Club Car Park.
- Zone 2 Car Park (Opposite Island Club).
- Museum Kitchen Car Park.
- The Bell Car Park (by Island Maternity).
