Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has criticised aspects of the Federal Government’s economic reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, arguing that many Nigerians are yet to experience the expected benefits of the policies. Speaking at a political gathering, Makinde said the country’s economic direction should be measured by its impact on the lives of ordinary citizens, particularly in areas such as inflation, employment, purchasing power, and the overall cost of living. He maintained that governments at all levels must implement policies that promote inclusive growth, create jobs, strengthen local industries, and improve the welfare of the people. The governor also encouraged supporters to mobilise behind the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing political participation and grassroots engagement as essential to strengthening democracy and expanding electoral choices. He urged party members to remain united, organised, and committed to peaceful political activities while preparing for future elections.
