In a rather unexpected turn of events, new signing, Riccardo Calafiori, struck home a screamer to level things in the 22nd minute, before Gabriel put Mikel Arteta’s side ahead just before the break.
Rodri had come off injured earlier and the delay contributed to an eight-minute added time before the break, and just at the nick of half time, Leandro Trossard was shown a second yellow and sent off, a decision that sparked controversy.
And breath… 😮💨

An incredible half of Premier League football sees Arsenal lead 2-1 after the first 45 minutes, but they'll have to play the second half with just ten men ⏰#MCIARS pic.twitter.com/gyCAT7Gdv8
With a man down, it was safe to say the tides had swayed in favour of City, but that wasn’t the case, as Arteta’s men showcased an impressive level of resistance to keep City’s threatening attack at bay.
Arsenal remained resolute in their defence and looked set to deservedly walk away with all three points when John Stones scrambled home an equalizer right at the death, leaving Arteta, his boys and their fans shattered.
A point serves City just fine, as a defeat would have been embarrassing, however, Arsenal can be proud of their performance.
The result sent City back to the summit as they maintained their unbeaten start to the season.
