Having pulled off a pulsating 3-2 comeback victory against Aston Villa on Tuesday, many had hoped Manchester United would build on the momentum in their next game against Nottingham Forest, and end the year in style, but that wasn’t the case, as Ten Hag’s were dealt an embarrassing 2-1 defeat away at the City Ground.

It seemed like the English forward had salvaged a point for the desperate Red Devils, but whatever hoped they had got shattered in the 82nd minute when Morgan Gibbs-White struck home a winner, to hand Forest their first EPL win over Man Utd in 29 years.
United ends the year with 14 defeats in the EPL so far this season and 21 in all competitions, their worst loss tally before the end of a year since 1930-31.
21 – Manchester United have lost 21 games in all competitions in 2023 – only in 1930 (28), 1972 (25) and 1921 (24) have they ever lost more in a calendar year. Defeatist. #NFOMUN pic.twitter.com/zVd15K4MRm
