Rapper NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, has reportedly been released from federal prison ahead of his expected release date. While official confirmation is yet to be made, sources including DJ Akademiks and online prison records suggest that the Baton Rouge rapper may have been transferred to a halfway house or released to his home.
NBA YoungBoy was sentenced to 23 months in federal custody in December 2024 on gun possession charges, with his release originally set for April 26, 2025. His early release has sparked widespread reactions, with many fans eager to know the details surrounding his probation and legal status.

YoungBoy has had several legal run-ins over the years. In April 2024, he was arrested in Utah on charges related to identity fraud and prescription drug forgery. He later took a plea deal, which resulted in prison time and a $25,000 fine. Despite these challenges, the rapper remained active in the music industry even behind bars.
While incarcerated, NBA YoungBoy continued to engage his fans by dropping a mixtape titled More Leaks, which featured a collection of unreleased tracks and snippets. His dominance in the industry remains undeniable, with the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) recognizing him as the only rapper in the past decade to achieve eight Platinum albums.

As of now, the rapper has not publicly commented on his release or his future plans. However, his mother, Sherhonda Gaulden in an Instagram post wrote:
“To God be the glory, he’s back,” sparking widespread speculation about her son’s possible release.
Although the post didn’t directly mention NBA YoungBoy, the phrase “he’s back” has generated significant buzz.
