Nollywood actress Blessing Obasi has fiercely defended her inclusion in the highly anticipated second season of the hit Netflix series Blood Sisters, dismissing social media claims that she landed the gig through nepotism.
The online chatter ignited shortly after the official cast announcement for Blood Sisters 2 dropped. Fans noticed that the brand-new season is being directed by her husband, celebrated actor and filmmaker Stan Nze, alongside co-director Innih Emah. Critics quickly went to work across X and Instagram, implying that her marriage to the director played a key part in her securing a coveted spot on the high-profile Mo Abudu production.
Addressing the critics head-on, the actress completely shut down the narrative, explaining that her career stands entirely on its own merit, years of hard work, and a stellar professional track record that predates her marriage.
“I have been in this industry pushing, auditioning, and building my craft long before I got married. My talent speaks for itself. It’s insulting when people try to reduce a woman’s hard-earned success and capability down to who she is married to. I went through the proper channels, and I earned my place on that set.”
Blessing emphasized that while she and Stan Nze absolutely love working together and supporting each other’s artistic growth, they maintain strict professional boundaries when it comes to industry projects. Fans of the couple have also come to her defense, pointing out her previous stellar performances in numerous Nollywood box office hits and noting that her dynamic acting range makes her an objective asset to any premium series cast list.
