Manchester United left it late to bounce back in a 4-1 win at Newcastle on Saturday.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat against Tottenham at Old Trafford just before the international break.
But they made partial amends for that embarrassment with a much-needed second win of the Premier League season.
The game registered a chaotic start for the visitors as Luke Shaw’s own goal gave Newcastle an early lead.
Nineteen minutes later, what would have been an equalizer got disallowed following a VAR which ruled Juan Mara offside in the build-up to the goal by Bruno Fernandes.
But the disappointment only lasted for two minutes as United captain Maguire scored the equaliser to ensure it all squared at the break.
After the break, United’s missed out on taking the lead when Bruno Fernandes’ penalty got saved by Karl Darlow.
A relentless Manchester United soon saw their efforts pay off in the 86th minute when Bruno Fernanades’ superb strike finally put them ahead.
Barely three minutes later, Aaron Wan-Bissaka makes his 50th a made it three with his first goal for United.
Marcus Rashford wrapped up things with the fourth goal right at the nick of stoppage-time.
United might have left it a little too late to finish off Newcastle, but the result was pretty much deserved and Solskjaer will hope it is the start of a better period for his team after their shambolic opening to the campaign.
