Nigerian Singer, Bigiano Opens Up On Regrets In his Music Career

Nigerian singer Babalola Oluwagbemiga Gabriel, popularly known as Bigiano, has revealed one of the biggest regrets of his music career; turning down an offer to join Mo’Hits Records at the peak of his success.

In a recent episode of the One One podcast, Bigiano got emotional as he reflected on how things might have been different had he joined the iconic record label, co-founded by Don Jazzy and D’banj.

According to the singer, the offer came around 2010, during the height of his hit single ‘Shayo’. He recalled that D’banj personally introduced him to renowned music manager Sunday Are, and took him to the Mo’Hits mansion where he met Don Jazzy, Wande Coal, and other key figures in the label.

“Don Jazzy asked me, ‘Do you want to join Mo’Hits?’ Instead of me saying yes, the little mind that feels he has arrived as an independent artist with hit songs said no,” Bigiano shared.

He admitted that pride and a false sense of self-sufficiency led him to reject the life-changing offer.

In his words:

“This is going to make me teary, but I dare not. When ‘Shayo’ was at its prime, my friend D’banj introduced me and handed me over to Sunday Are. That should be 2010. “They invited me to Mo’Hits mansion, Bankuli took me there. When we go there, D’banj, Don Jazzy, and Sunday Are were all around. I think Wande Coal was also around. And then Don Jazzy asked me, ‘Do you want to join Mo’Hits?’ Instead of me saying’yes,’ the little mind that feels he has arrived as an independent artist with hit songs said ‘No.’ “If I had accepted the offer, that would have been a big turnaround for my career because the Mo’Hits crew were very supportive. I regretted the decision.”
