The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has sanctioned the massive promotion of 17,952 junior police officers across various ranks within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The sweeping promotion exercise, which cuts across police commands and institutional formations nationwide, was officially announced by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Okon Placid, at the Force Headquarters.
According to the leadership of the NPF, this widespread human resource intervention is part of a deliberate, ongoing strategy to enhance personnel welfare, reward institutional diligence, and heavily boost the morale of frontline officers in the line of duty.
The exercise heavily favors the lowest tier of the ranking ladder, focusing on transitioning thousands of field constables into non-commissioned officer structures to ensure career progression and institutional development:

In his official address following the approval, IGP Disu emphasized that timely promotions should never be viewed as a luxury, but rather as a critical, foundational component of strategic human resource management.
He reiterated that the current police leadership is completely committed to a merit-based evaluation framework that rewards discipline, professionalism, and an unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property.
