Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli has received a certificate of recognition from Patrick Brown, the Mayor of Brampton, Canada.
This recognition came in celebration of her work on her latest box office movie, ‘The Uprising’, which has since been making waves since it’s release.
Sharing her excitement on Instagram, Omoni Oboli posted a video capturing the memorable moment, expressing her gratitude for the warm reception at the Mayor’s office.
She revealed that several members of staff in the Mayor’s office had watched The Uprising in Canadian cinemas and that the city was enthusiastic about hosting a special grand screening.
In a lengthy post, she wrote on her Instagram post:
“Today I met the mayor of Brampton @patrickbrownont and got presented with a certificate of recognition for my impactful work with THE UPRISING. Many people in the mayor’s office have watched the movie in cinemas here in Canada and the city is excited to host a grand special screening of THE UPRISING.

Meanwhile, Nollywood’s latest success story, The Uprising: Wives on Strike 3, has achieved a significant box office milestone, grossing N110 million in the 3 weeks ended Nov 10.
Directed by Omoni Oboli, the film has quickly gained traction, adding to the legacy of the Wives on Strike series.
Debuting with a strong opening weekend at N28.2 million, the film has maintained a steady upward momentum.
