“Online Slogans Won’t Work” — City Boy Movement Unveils Plan to Mobilize 10 Million Youth Votes for Tinubu

The City Boy Movement (CBM) has officially launched an ambitious campaign to mobilize 10 million youth votes across Nigeria to secure support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The group’s leadership unveiled this target during the opening dinner of the maiden three-day City Boy Movement National Retreat held at the State House in Abuja, which ran from Monday, July 13, to Wednesday, July 15, 2026. The event was packed with key stakeholders, including State Directors and representatives from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Speaking at the retreat, the Director-General of the movement, Francis Oluwatosin Shoga, made it clear that the group is moving away from purely digital activism. He emphasized that achieving the 10 million vote target will require hard, physical groundwork rather than online buzz.

“Ten million votes will not come from slogans or social media,” Shoga stated bluntly. “They will come from real people, real members, real engagement and hard work at the grassroots.”

The Patron of the City Boy Movement, Seyi Tinubu, also addressed the participants, explaining that the organization has evolved far beyond its initial 2023 role as a political campaign platform. He described CBM as a permanent nationwide movement dedicated to citizen engagement and national development. Acknowledging that many Nigerians are currently feeling the heavy economic weight of the federal government’s reforms, Seyi Tinubu charged members to actively go into local communities, markets, and campuses to act as a constructive bridge between the presidency and the populace.

The three-day national retreat also featured the official swearing-in of CBM’s National Working Committee (NWC). Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, delivered a goodwill message at the inauguration, warning members that “politics is not a game for those who sit on the sidelines” and urging them to return to their states as active, disciplined ambassadors of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
