Ahead of the August 15 governorship election, the Osun State voters have been urged to elect a purposeful, focused, innovative, and visionary leader who would guarantee sustainable development and be a giant among equals. The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prince Adesina Adeyemi-Doro, made the plea in a statement he signed in Osogbo yesterday, stating that his bid to unseat the incumbent governor was driven by a commitment to responsible leadership and sustainable development and not for personal gains. Adeyemi-Doro, who contended that Osun has enormous untapped potential that can only be realized through visionary, accountable, and inclusive governance, noted that only a competent and determined person can rescue the state from the situation it has found itself in. He urged residents to join what he described as a “movement for progress, unity, and sustainable development,” saying the August 15, 2026 poll presents a clear choice between maintaining the status quo and embracing a future of greater possibilities. While acknowledging the contributions of past and current administrations, the APGA candidate noted that governance is a continuum, arguing that the state now needs a new generation of leaders focused on competence, innovation, transparency, and measurable results. He emphasized that his aspiration is not about personal ambition or political rivalry but about public service and repositioning Osun for greater prosperity, concluding that the election should be seen as a defining moment for the future of the state rather than a mere contest between personalities because Osun people deserve better opportunities, better governance, and a renewed commitment to grassroots development.
