The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has fiercely slammed the Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, warning him to immediately leave the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, out of his self-inflicted political misfortunes and face his governance realities. Speaking directly to journalists at the party’s national headquarters at Wadata Plaza in Abuja on Thursday, June 25, 2026, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Jungudo Haruna Mohammed, expressed total and absolute dismay over Nwifuru’s recent volatile outburst at a political rally where the governor allegedly threatened to “consume” and completely destroy the entire opposition structure within Ebonyi State while dragging Wike into his domestic political crises. Firing back aggressively on behalf of the party, the PDP publicity scribe stated authoritatively that Nyesom Wike is not Governor Nwifuru’s political mate and should never be used as a convenient shield or a tactical distraction from local accountability, executive failure, and bad governance. Mohammed explicitly stated that Governor Nwifuru’s true challenge is not Chief Wike, but rather the resilient, hardworking people of Ebonyi State who are desperately yearning for competent leadership, fiscal transparency, and genuine grassroots development. The PDP further accused Governor Nwifuru of heavily resorting to cheap scapegoats and wild, unfounded conspiracy theories after completely failing to deliver the true dividends of democracy to his citizens over his tenure. To strongly back up its structural claims of bad governance, the opposition party openly challenged the governor to immediately clear the air on several controversial and inflated state expenses, including the staggering ₦24 billion reportedly spent on the Chuba Okadigbo Airport renovation, which critics say remains entirely commercially unviable for the state’s economy. Additionally, the opposition party demanded full transparency regarding the completely undisclosed and hidden beneficiaries of the state’s lucrative overseas scholarship programme, the visibly deteriorating state of basic primary and secondary education across all Ebonyi communities, the widespread abandonment of basic two-kilometre inner-city road projects across local governments, and the multi-billion naira budgets allocated for building lavish traditional rulers’ palaces with zero positive impact on the poverty-stricken masses. Moving forward, the opposition party heavily flagged the governor’s hostile language as a direct, dangerous threat to Nigeria’s multi-party democracy, calling on national security agencies and civil society organizations to hold Nwifuru strictly accountable if any harm befalls PDP leaders, supporters, or its 2027 governorship candidate, Ambassador (Dr.) Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, and his family members.
