Controversial street-hop artist, Portable, has turned down a ₦100 million offer to participate in a boxing match against popular online activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM). Instead, the singer is demanding a whopping ₦1 billion if he’s to step into the ring.
This comes after popular music executive, Soso Soberekon, proposed a high-stakes celebrity boxing match between the two outspoken personalities. Soberekon offered ₦120 million in total—₦100 million for the winner and ₦20 million for the loser. The match was to be held at the KFT Event Center in Warri, Delta State.
“Let your fists do the talking,” Soberekon posted on Instagram. “Portable vs VeryDarkMan. Two mouths, one ring. Who go survive?”
His announcement read: “🚨 OFFICIAL BOXING MATCH PROPOSAL 🚨 The street’s most talked-about voices… now let your fists do the talking. No more talk! Let’s turn this online cruise into real-life bruises! 🥊🔥.”

But Portable was quick to shut it down, calling the offer small change. According to him, his fans often give him that kind of money, so there’s no need to step into the ring for such a sum.

“I don collect money wey pass ₦20 million, my fans dey give me. The ₦100 million my fans dey give me. ₦100 million small for me to fight VeryDarkMan, make them give me ₦1 billion.”
“If I see someone who’ll give me ₦1 billion, I’ll fight him. I’ll beat him totally. Before I use juju on him, I’ll fight him.”
Instead, the “Zazu” crooner is pushing for a raw, no-rules street fight, claiming boxing rules and protective gear won’t let him fight the way he wants. “Let’s meet in the street,” he said in a video. “I don’t want gloves or gear. We fit fight with plank if need be.”
In his words, “People have been tagging me and asking for a boxing match between me and VeryDarkMan. Who will box with that fool? If he wants to fight with me, let him come to the street. I’m a street fighter. I don’t want boxing match because we will be mandated to wear protective gears. But it’s in the streets, you can even fight with planks. I want us to settle this with a street fight not boxing, let’s see who will win.”
The online beef between Portable and VDM has been heating up for days, with both parties dropping diss tracks and throwing jabs over social media. Portable had earlier slammed VDM for constantly attacking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and accused him of using the late singer Mohbad’s death for clout. In response, VeryDarkMan dropped a track titled Ole, referencing Portable’s past run-ins with the law.
With things getting messier, fans are wondering if either of them will actually step up, or if this is just another episode in the ongoing drama between two of Nigeria’s most controversial internet figures.
