Nigerian music star Davido has once again missed out on a Grammy win, extending his streak to four nominations without a victory, prompting ridicules and mockery from controversial singer, Habeeb Olalomi Badmus, professionally known as Portable.
The 67th Grammy Awards, held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, saw him lose in the Best African Music Performance category.
The Zazoo crooner took to his Instagram page to mock the singers for not winning any award at the just concluded 67th Grammys.
According to him, they had avoided him but the international awarding committee didn’t recognise them with an award. Portable opined that his song, Tony Montana, ought to win him a Grammy Award because it is international.
Portable disclosed that nomination does not mean the person has won. He bragged that he was his own backup and will win Grammy,
According to him, he has hit songs, and he has ‘blown’. He took a swipe at the Nigerian singers who lost at the Grammy and said that it was a lady, who beat them to it.
He explained that a singer (Asake) wore soldier uniform to the award ceremony and added that it was not about war but about glory. He also stated that if any artist should feature, the song will definitely win a Grammy Award.
In one of the video made into a collage, the Zeh Nation boss claimed that Naira Marley was supposed to win a Grammy Award, stating that Naira Marley made it in the international industry before relocating to Nigeria.
He called on Skpeta to submit their collaboration, Tony Montana, for the net Grammy Award. He also called on Olamide to submit their hit song, Zazu, for the next Grammy Award.

Samklef also took to his X page to mock davido for once again losing his nomination. He opined that if Davido had won, the internet would have been a noisy place.

Reacting to this, Ubi Franklin noted that he had spoken to him in private about his attitude towards Davido.
He noted that it wasn’t only Davido who had lost his nomination, but somehow it is him he chooses to mock.

Also, a fan of Davido thinks Grammy is politicised, as he feels Davido should have won instead of Tems. In his emotional rant, he argued that Davido’s talent and contributions to the music industry made him the more deserving winner.
“See ehh, Grammy e be like say una dey play politics with this thing. Davido suppose win Grammy this year. This guy is good. Una wan tell us say Tems better pass Davido? She sabi sing pass Davido? Abi she sabi baff up pass Davido? We no come trust this una award again. We no trust am. This thing is being politicised,” he lamented.
Following Davido’s loss, a few made memes using Davido’s pictures. They stated how the Awuke crooner would look like in a couple of years, while still aiming at the Grammy Award.
In one of the memes created with Davido’s picture, he was wearing a female dress and holding the award gong in his hands. A fake Grammy Award plaque was even created and kept beside the image, and a red marker was used to write on it. Davido was compared to Atiku, who has been contesting as a presidential candidate in Nigeria for a couple of years but has not won one election.
However, a few fans were sympathetic towards Davido, they praised him and encouraged him that he will win next year.
