Road to Los Angeles: Nine Super Falcons Players Open Camp in Ogun State Ahead of Olympic Qualifier

Preparations for Nigeria’s quest to secure a ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games have officially commenced, with nine players opening the Super Falcons’ training camp in Ikenne, Ogun State.

The early birds reported to the team’s base at the AM2PM Hotel in Ijebu-Ode to begin tactical drills ahead of their two-legged second-round qualifying encounter against Comoros. Leading the early wave of arrivals is Belarus-based forward Blessing Nkor of Dynamo Brest, alongside a strong contingent of standout talents from the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL).

The domestic league stars already in camp include the Edo Queens trio of Tumininu Adeshina, Christiana Uzoma, and Valentina Uroko, as well as Nasarawa Amazons duo Farida Abdulwahab and Joy Igbokwe. Bayelsa Queens defender Glory Edet, Fatimoh Solaty, and Rivers Queens attacker Sandra John complete the initial group of nine players working under the technical crew.

Interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen and his technical staff are using the initial sessions to sharpen tactical fitness while awaiting the arrival of overseas-based stalwarts, including team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, Asisat Oshoala, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Monday Gift.

Following recent continental setbacks, the nine-time African champions are determined to launch a convincing campaign and put on a dominant display against Comoros when the first-leg fixture kicks off this Friday.
