In a recent development, popular Nigerian comedian Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ejekwu, widely known as Sabinus, has publicly addressed the issue of defamatory content circulating about him.
The comedian shared a conversation with a blogger who, after posting false information, reached out to Sabinus seeking forgiveness.
The blogger admitted that the defamatory post was intended as a jest and expressed admiration for Sabinus’s work. He revealed aspirations to start creating his own content and apologized profusely, even offering to purchase tickets for Sabinus and his son to attend his show.
In response, Sabinus took to his Facebook page to express concern over the alarming rate at which bloggers disseminate unverified and damaging information to attract attention. He emphasized the need for evidence-based reporting, stating that celebrities are human and deserve fair treatment.
Sabinus wrote,
“The rate at which blogger condemns, tarnishes, disfigure, defame, slander, and blackmail to get massive attention nowadays is highly alarming, and I think it’s high time it stopped!!! Imagine what Afrocania wrote about me without video evidence, picture evidence or even voice note evidence and people are quick to believe Mehn.
“When you write something about people abeg show evidence of where the person talk am, we celebrities are human too we are not spirit !!

This incident coincides with rumors regarding Sabinus’s personal life. Reports have surfaced alleging a separation between Sabinus and his wife, Ciana Chapman, citing issues of infidelity and neglect. The couple, who have been married for less than three years, have reportedly unfollowed each other on social media platforms, further fueling the speculation.
It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time the couple has faced public scrutiny. Previously, allegations of domestic violence emerged, which both Sabinus and Ciana vehemently denied, questioning the credibility of such claims given their geographical separation at the time.
