Shettima Promotes Delta State as a Prime Destination for Local and Foreign Investment

Vice President Kashim Shettima has encouraged domestic and international investors to explore the vast economic opportunities available in Delta State, describing the state as one of Nigeria’s emerging investment destinations with strong potential for sustainable growth and industrial expansion. Speaking at an investment-focused event, Shettima highlighted Delta’s strategic location, abundant natural resources, skilled workforce, expanding infrastructure, and favourable business environment as major factors capable of attracting significant private sector investment. He noted that the Federal Government remains committed to implementing reforms that improve the ease of doing business, strengthen investor confidence, and encourage greater participation in key sectors of the economy. According to the Vice President, Delta possesses enormous opportunities in agriculture, oil and gas, manufacturing, technology, renewable energy, tourism, logistics, and the blue economy, making it well positioned to contribute substantially to Nigeria’s economic diversification agenda. He urged investors to take advantage of the state’s growing industrial base and supportive policies designed to stimulate enterprise development and create employment opportunities. Economic analysts observed that increased investment in Delta could accelerate infrastructure development, boost local industries, enhance exports, and improve the state’s internally generated revenue while contributing to national economic growth. They stressed that policy consistency, transparent governance, reliable infrastructure, and effective public-private partnerships remain essential for sustaining investor confidence over the long term. Business leaders also welcomed the renewed efforts to market Delta as an investment hub, expressing optimism that greater capital inflows would strengthen entrepreneurship, encourage innovation, and improve productivity across multiple sectors. Stakeholders further emphasised the need for continued collaboration between government, financial institutions, development partners, and the private sector to unlock the state’s full economic potential. The investment drive reflects ongoing efforts to position Delta as a competitive destination capable of supporting inclusive growth, job creation, industrial development, and long-term prosperity within Nigeria’s evolving economy.
