The tragic passing of Abuja-based soprano Ifunanya Nwangene, popularly known as Nanyah, has culminated in the announcement of her final rites. The 26-year-old rising star, who gained fame on The Voice Nigeria, passed away on January 31, 2026, after a cobra bit her while she was asleep in her Abuja residence.
Her brother, Kingsley Nwangene, and the rest of the family have released a detailed funeral schedule spanning Lagos and her hometown in Enugu State:
| Date | Event | Location |
| Feb 10 | Service of Songs | Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Abule Oshun, Lagos |
| Feb 12 | Requiem Mass & Hour of Hymns | Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lagos |
| Feb 13 | Wake Keep | Nwangene Family Compound, Enugu State |
| Feb 14 | Interment (Burial) | Her hometown in Enugu State |

Nanyah’s death sparked a national conversation about Nigeria’s healthcare emergency response. While the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Jabi, insisted they administered antivenom, her choir and family highlighted a harrowing two-hour struggle to find a facility with available stock. The Senate has since waded into the matter, urging the Ministry of Health to ensure the mandatory availability of antivenoms in all tertiary hospitals to prevent future tragedies.
