Nigeria’s Super Falcons have cemented their place as the most decorated female team on the continent following a dramatic 3-2 comeback triumph over Morocco in Saturday’s WAFCON final to take home the trophy for the 10th time.
The Super Falcons gunning for a record extending 10th trophy, had a slow start, trailing 2-0 behind the hosts at half time.
However after the break, Nigeria’s determination paid off as goals from Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Florence Ijamilusi and Jennifer Echegini saw the Falcons complete a historic comeback, to deliver PROJECT X.
With the victory, the Super Falcons, who have now won every WAFCON final they’ve played, bagged the cash prize of $1 million (over ₦1.5 billion).
