TikTokers Jailed for Accusing Wunmi of Killing Mohbad

Two Nigerian TikTok creators, Saheed Jamiu (aka Osama) and Uyime Godwin Udoekwere, are currently behind bars following a controversial protest in early July 2025. During the demonstration in Ikeja, Lagos, they held placards reading “Wunmi Killed Mohbad! Period! E No Go Better For Wunmi” and circulated the same message online, accusations aimed at Omowunmi Aloba, Mohbad’s widow.

These actions led to their arrest and arraignment before Justice Ibrahim Kala of the Federal High Court in Lagos. Justice Kala remanded them at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, denying bail until they file a formal application. Their trial is now set to begin on September 25, 2025.

The court charged them with three offences: conspiracy, cyberstalking, and defamation, crimes under Nigeria’s Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015. Prosecutors argued that they used network platforms and printed materials to intentionally harm Wunmi’s reputation with false allegations.

Osama and Udoekwere pleaded not guilty in court. Their lawyer requested an immediate bail, maintaining they pose no threat to the ongoing case, but the judge insisted the proper written application be filed. Until then, the two remain detained.

Since singer Mohbad’s sudden death in September 2023, social media speculation about his widow’s involvement has intensified. Omowunmi Aloba has repeatedly denied the claims and has called for privacy and justice amid growing public scrutiny.

Their  prosecution is scheduled for September 25,2025 and will remain in custody at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until the case concludes.

For Omowunmi Aloba, the remand offers temporary relief from online attacks. However, it does little to address the underlying questions about Mohbad’s death. The ongoing revelations from VeryDarkMan on the singer’s passing have reawakened interest in the case.
