The Super Falcons have another reason to celebrate after President Bola Tinubu fulfilled his promise to reward each player with the naira equivalent of $100,000 following their historic 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations triumph.
According to the National Sports Commission, the players have started receiving payments estimated at approximately ₦140 million each.
The reward follows Nigeria’s dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco in the WAFCON final in Rabat on July 26, 2025.
The Falcons produced one of the most memorable performances in their history after going two goals down in the first half. Esther Okoronkwo converted a penalty before setting up Folashade Ijamilusi for the equaliser. Jennifer Echegini then scored the decisive goal in the 88th minute to seal Nigeria’s record-extending 10th continental title.
The cash reward is part of the recognition promised to the players, who have also received title documents for three-bedroom apartments in Abuja and national honours.
Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade reportedly expressed appreciation to the President for fulfilling the financial commitment.
For the players, this is more than a financial reward. It is recognition of a remarkable achievement that once again established Nigeria as the most successful nation in women’s African football.
