Tonto Dikeh Shares Emotional Story of Healing: “Depression Was My Closest Companion Until God Saved Me”

Nollywood star Tonto Dikeh has opened up about her powerful journey of spiritual rebirth, revealing how her relationship with God helped her overcome depression, anger, and emotional pain.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the mother of one reflected on her transformation from darkness to peace, describing how the Holy Spirit reshaped her heart and habits after years of turmoil.

“There was a time I had a fuse so short it could set everything ablaze. I mistook my pain for strength, but it was only destroying me,” Tonto wrote.

According to the actress, true healing began when she fully surrendered to God, allowing divine grace to calm her spirit and restore her peace.

She revealed that depression once felt like her constant companion, leading her to a point of despair.

“I was living as both the wound and the weapon. Depression was my companion; I wore pain like a second skin until God said, ‘Rise,’ and I did.”

Tonto shared that this transformation has made her more compassionate and understanding toward others who are suffering.

“When I see people acting from a place of pain, I don’t condemn them; I pray for them. I know how it feels to lose yourself while trying to survive,” she added.

The actress also disclosed that she has embraced celibacy and spiritual discipline as part of her new walk with God.

Reflecting on her past, she said:

“I gave my life to Christ after secondary school but took His love for granted. Life humbled me, and through that pain, I returned to my first love, God.”

Through this powerful testimony, Tonto Dikeh encourages others to believe that healing and peace are possible through faith and surrender.
