The Minister of Transportation, Senator Sa’idu Ahmed Alkali, has officially resigned from his position to focus on his upcoming gubernatorial campaign.
According to a report by Radio Nigeria, Alkali submitted his resignation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing the need to adhere to constitutional requirements and party guidelines as he prepares to run for the governorship of Gombe State.
During his tenure as Transport Minister, which began in August 2023, Alkali was noted for overseeing several key infrastructure projects, including the expansion of the rail network and the modernization of port operations.
In his farewell remarks, Alkali expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity to serve in the federal cabinet. He emphasized his commitment to applying his experience at the national level to drive development and progress in Gombe State.
President Tinubu has reportedly accepted the resignation, thanking the outgoing minister for his service to the nation and wishing him success in his future political endeavors. A successor or acting minister for the transport ministry is expected to be announced shortly to ensure the continuity of ongoing projects.
