UCL; PSG escape Villa’s comeback threat, through to semis

French Champions, Paris Saint Germain narrowly escaped what would have been an incredible comeback from Aston Villa to keep the former from booking a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

PSG had made the trip to Villa Park off the back of a 3-1 advantage from the first leg in Paris and got off to a bright start in the return leg, putting two goals past Villa before the break.

At 2-1 at the break, Villa returned with a fire that almost consumed the visitors, scoring two more goals to bring things to a dramatic 3-2 I’m favour of the English side.

Unia Emery’s men were just a goal away from overturning the deficit, but PSG’s keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma rose to the occasion, ensuring his side stay in the competition.

Villa eventually bowed out of the competition, but they did so with their heads held high.

Borussia Dortmund  vs Barcelona

In the second game of the night, German side Borussia Dortmund secured a second leg 3-1 win over Barcelona in an attempt to over the 4-0 deficit from the first leg in Spain.

However, just like Villa, they came short as the Catalan giants eventually scaled through on a 5-3 aggregate win.

Barcelona will take on the winners of the Inter Milan/Bayern clash, while PSG, will square up against the victors of the Arsenal/Madrid showdown, with the second leg of both games set to be played today.
