Trailing 3-2 from the first leg at the Etihad, Pep Guardiola’s side travelled to Madrid to face the wrath of an on fire Kylian Mbappe who scored a fantastic hat-trick to bury the Citizens.
City pulled a very late on back courtesy of Nico Gonzalez, but it was already to late to impact the outcome as the defending champions edged with a 6-3 aggregate score to book a spot in the last 16 of what can now be termed as Real Madrid’s favourite competition.Β
