The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has come under fire over comment by founding National Secretary of the Alliance for Democracy, Udenta Udenta, that the independent body is now serving as a machinery of the ruling Party.
The Political analyst made the comment during his appearance on ARISE News on Tuesday. He criticized the ruling party saying it does not have what it takes hold the political future of the nation. He further stressed that the APC has used state institutions as a weapon to solidify its power.
He said, “INEC has become a weapon in the hands of APC, used to legitimise electoral robbery and violence,” he alleged, adding that the judiciary has equally been compromised.
“This is a structure of darkness. This is a structure that will collapse on its own,” stressing that the APC has weaponised state institutions to entrench its dominance.
According to him, Nigeria wants change and if opposition parties come together, they will be able to unseat the ruling party who is about to destroy the nation.
“That panic is that 2027 will be a day of reckoning. That becomes more acute if Jonathan contests that election,” he warned.
“If PDP and Labour Party do not come together, APC will destroy this country beyond recognition,” he cautioned, noting that fragmented opposition only strengthens the ruling establishment.
“What APC has done is to collapse the economy, collapse security, collapse cohesion and collapse legitimacy.”
“This country cannot continue like this. The people are waiting, the people are watching, the people are suffering,” he said.
